THAT TELL A STORY
Stopping at Coco's Chocolatier in Williamsburg was a great chance to be surrounded by endless pictures of wonderful things to eat. Some years ago when I was creating advertising for Whitman's Chocolates, I was "stranded" between shifts at the Whitman's plant in Philadelphia. Alone, I sampled whatever I wanted from the long lines of chocolate surprises. After photographing some of the individual chocolates at Coco's, the owner created a chocolate fondue. The picture above combined movement and an array of colors. It even created a classic pyramid shape that is the basis of so many paintings from the past. Photography can bring to life your ideas. When I was snitching candy in the Whitman's plant, I later learned that all production workers were free to sample whatever chocolates they want from the moving line. Proof positive of how well they were made. That idea become an award-winning ad that appeared in many national magazines. (The picture itself was filmed in a Chicago photo house; I do longer remember the photographer's name, but he captured the scene beautifully.)
