Off with his head! A replica of Blackbeard the Pirate's head on display at the Hampton History Museum. This is an excellent small museum with ten galleries that vividly depict some of the early days of Hampton, including the burning of the city during the Civil War, recently uncovered artifacts, early firefighting and tools of Native Americans. | Take control! Visit the new Adventures in Flight gallery at the Virginia Air & Space Center and take off - literally. Fly a plane, use "paddles" to help land a jet on an aircraft carrier, or participate in 98 other "hands-on" exhibits. You will also see the Apollo 12 Command Module that went to the moon. St. John's Church in downtown Hampton is an historic oasis. The original church was established in 1610 and is the oldest English-speaking church in America. Inside you will see a stained glass window of Pocahontas being baptized and listen to a taped message about the history of the church. A wonderful place to relax and meditate. Hampton Bay Days, annual event in September, offers food, music, fireworks and games for children.
